I’ve been in Bulgaria for the past nine months, but made it back to the Four Corners Country homeland for a stint. It’s been lovely, particularly hanging out on the Great Sage Plain where southeastern Utah and southwestern Colorado meet. The silence this time of year is almost overwhelming as folks tend to stay away because of the heat. Nearly every day dawns clear and cool, the mercury hits a high point around 2 or 3 in the afternoon, and then the clouds start piling up, first over the mountains, then over the mesas and canyons. Lightning, thunder, a brief deluge, then a drama of light, clouds, and landscape until the sun sets and darkness falls…
Back home for a bit
